0

Aiseesoft Data Recovery searches Windows and Mac storage for deleted photos, documents and videos. The listed licenses carry a 50% discount, with separate PC and Mac purchases; users can scan internal drives, USB media or SD cards before exporting recoverable files.

Quick Summary

Aiseesoft Data Recovery scans accessible computer storage for files lost after deletion, accidental formatting or certain partition problems. Its Mac counterpart, Aiseesoft Mac Data Recovery, serves macOS users. Neither version is a substitute for an existing backup or remote-account recovery.

Best for
Recovering deleted files from recognized Windows or Mac storage, formatted removable cards and certain nonbooting Windows PCs.
Platforms
Aiseesoft Data Recovery for Windows / macOS.
License
1 Month / 1 computer, 1 Year / 1 computer, or Lifetime / 3 computers on each platform.
Key limitation
No scan can guarantee retrieval after overwriting or SSD cleanup; physically failed drives and remote cloud mailboxes are different problems.

If the Recycle Bin, Trash or a backup contains the missing file, restore that copy first. Otherwise, scan the original volume and inspect the result list before purchasing.

Can This Software Do What I Need?

Aiseesoft Data Recovery is useful when data has disappeared from a readable disk, not whenever something is missing from an account or application. Match the problem to its original location before choosing a scan or buying a license.

  • I emptied the Windows Recycle Bin and need an important folder back.

    Windows permanent deletion

    Suitable

Deleted local files can remain discoverable while their sectors have not been reused. First stop writing to the affected disk; scan the original volume and save successful recoveries elsewhere.

  • The document was never saved before Word or Excel closed.

    Unsaved Office work

    Check built-in recovery first

An AutoRecover, temporary file, file-history or versioned cloud copy may contain work that was never committed to an ordinary document. A drive scan cannot reconstruct text that was never written to storage.

  • I need an older version of a document that I overwrote.

    Overwritten document

    Conditional

Check Word Version History, Excel AutoRecover, or previously enabled file-version features first. A scanner looks for remaining file data; it does not manufacture earlier revisions from a current file.

  • A camera SD card was accidentally formatted.

    Camera media

    Suitable if recognized

Use the USB/SD workflow through a card reader and avoid further recording. Quick-format loss is a different prospect from physical damage or a device that cannot be read.

  • An external SSD is visible but my photos disappeared.

    External SSD

    Conditional

Choose the mounted SSD or partition as the scan target. Availability depends on file-system status, what was overwritten, and whether deletion/trim behavior eliminated recoverable content.

  • My Windows computer will not boot.

    Unbootable PC

    Dedicated workflow

Crashed PC Recovery creates a bootable USB from a working machine, then starts recovery on the failed PC. This is not Windows repair or guaranteed recovery from a physically dead drive.

  • My Mac lost photos from its library.

    Mac photo library

Start with library and backup checks

Check the Photos or legacy iPhoto library, Trash, and Time Machine where applicable. A drive scan becomes relevant if the image files themselves are gone from available copies.

  • My email vanished from Gmail or Outlook.

    Missing email

    Check where it lived

Use the mail service Trash or retention mechanisms for server-side messages. Drive scanning is intended for accessible local mail files or cached data, not remote mailbox recovery by account login.

  • I want old clips from an SD card used in a camera or drone.

    Video and drone footage

    Suitable if data persists

Scan the removable medium, filter by video format, and preview candidates when possible. A file name or MP4 listing does not guarantee a complete playable video after fragmented or overwritten content.

  • I accidentally deleted the Downloads folder.

    Downloads folder

    Check existing copies first

Look in Recycle Bin and available Previous Versions. If those sources are empty, scan the original storage volume rather than creating new files in Downloads.

  • My Lenovo was factory-reset and files are missing.

    Factory reset

    Conditional

The Lenovo recovery partition and OEM tools reinstall or reset Windows; they do not recover individual documents after the fact. Stop disk writes and evaluate file recovery separately.

  • I lost photos on an iPhone or inside its cloud account.

    Phone storage

    Not the same workflow

Desktop disk scanning does not provide direct iPhone-internal or iCloud account recovery. Evaluate the device or cloud app’s deleted-items and backup paths instead.

  • I need to repair a damaged thumbnail after recovering a photo.

    Image repair

    Conditional

Aiseesoft Data Recovery includes AI Repair for certain detected photos. It can process a damaged image, but it cannot replace image data that was never recovered.

  • The disk makes unusual noises or disconnects repeatedly.

    Physical device failure

    Do not keep scanning

A software scan can aggravate unstable hardware. Avoid repeated reads and seek an appropriate hardware-recovery assessment where the physical device itself is failing.

  • I want to inspect what is recoverable before purchasing.

    Pre-purchase check

    Free scan/preview

Install the appropriate platform edition, scan the affected location and examine the available result listing first. The free trial is not a promise of unrestricted file export.

How It Works

Aiseesoft Data Recovery has separate routes for hard drives, removable media and PCs that cannot boot. The steps below follow the controls in those routes and end with saving found files to a different drive.

Before a scan: choose the source and preserve it

The first step is to avoid changing the medium that held the missing data. Do not download recovery software, install updates, take more photographs, or export new files to the affected partition. When practical, run the desktop application from another drive and have a separate destination ready for recovered material.

Before scanning, check the location that originally contained the missing files and any existing copies. If the file was on a removable card, take it out of the camera; if it was on a Windows drive, identify the correct disk letter and partition. A successful scan of the wrong volume cannot locate content that was never stored there.

Recover files deleted from a Windows internal drive

In Aiseesoft Data Recovery for Windows, Hard Drive Recovery lists the computer’s detected volumes. Select the partition that held the deleted item, then use the folder path or file-type result view to narrow the scan results.

Click Start Scan for the first pass. If the file is absent, use Deep Scan where available; results can be filtered by format and inspected by preview. Export chosen files to another disk rather than the scanned partition.

  1. Open the Windows edition and select the original disk or partition in the main workspace.
  2. Run Start Scan and inspect the path and category views; use Filter to narrow a large results list.
  3. For missing items, try Deep Scan if offered for that target. Preview candidate photos or documents when available.
  4. Choose only the required files and save them to a different, healthy location; open a sample to verify usability.

Search a USB flash drive or camera SD card

For a flash drive, memory card or microSD card used by a camera, use the dedicated USB/SD Recovery section. Connect the medium directly or through a functioning reader and confirm that the computer detects it before beginning. If Windows asks to format the card, do not accept merely to make it visible.

USB/SD Recovery uses the Scan Disk control and a file filter after the connected device is selected. Export the chosen images or recordings to the computer, not back to the card.

  1. Connect the card/USB device without adding new media to it.
  2. Choose USB/SD Recovery, select the detected device and run Scan Disk.
  3. Use file-type filtering to separate pictures, videos and documents; preview promising files.
  4. Recover verified candidates to an unrelated local disk and check that the recovered files open.

Create rescue media when a Windows PC cannot start

Aiseesoft Data Recovery includes Crashed PC Recovery for preparing a rescue USB on a working Windows machine. Creation requires a USB device larger than 4 GB and formats that device, so copy off any existing files before confirming.

Once created, connect the rescue USB to the nonbooting PC and select it through the manufacturer’s boot menu or UEFI settings. The recovery environment then scans the available disks. Its purpose is file retrieval; do not mistake it for a factory reset, operating-system reinstall or repair guarantee.

  1. On a working Windows computer, open Crashed PC Recovery and begin boot-media creation.
  2. Select a suitable USB flash drive and confirm its erasure only after copying off any files you need.
  3. Boot the inaccessible computer from that USB through its firmware/boot-menu controls.
  4. Scan the visible storage and export recoverable files to an appropriate external destination.

Recover deleted Mac files with Aiseesoft Mac Data Recovery

Aiseesoft Mac Data Recovery scans Mac volumes and detected external drives, with results organized by file type or path. For pictures held in Photos, first inspect Recently Deleted and Time Machine; run a disk scan only when those copies do not contain the missing images.

An older vendor tutorial discusses changing System Integrity Protection settings on some macOS versions. Such instructions may not represent every current Mac configuration, and reducing system protections has security consequences. Do not disable protections simply because an old guide mentions it; first establish whether the installed software can access the intended volume under current macOS permissions.

  1. Confirm the original storage location, then launch Aiseesoft Mac Data Recovery.
  2. Select the Mac volume or attached device and the relevant file categories.
  3. Run the initial scan, examine Path List or file-type results, and use Deep Scan only when required.
  4. Export selected files to a separate location, then verify the recovered files in their normal applications.

Handle Word, Excel and Downloads-folder loss

Saved Word or Excel files deleted from a disk can appear in Aiseesoft Data Recovery scan results. Unsaved work belongs first in Office AutoRecover or AutoSave; an earlier revision of an overwritten document belongs first in Version History or a backup. These methods address different losses and are not interchangeable.

For the Downloads folder, first inspect the Recycle Bin and any prior folder version. A browser’s download history is a record of URLs, not a full backup of file contents. If no existing copy helps, scan the actual disk that held Downloads and check the results for file names, extensions, and plausible modification dates.

Separate local email files from cloud-hosted messages

Aiseesoft Data Recovery can search a local disk for supported mail archives and exported email files, such as files saved by a desktop client. Select the volume where the archive was stored and inspect the Email category rather than expecting access to a live email account.

For mail deleted inside Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook.com or another hosted mailbox, begin with the service’s Trash and recovery/retention features. The desktop file-recovery application does not sign into remote providers to restore server-side mail. Recovering a local PST-like archive should not be described as restoring messages to the live account.

Evaluate recovered photos and videos rather than counting file names

In the scan results, JPEG and camera RAW photos can be inspected separately from video formats such as MP4 or MOV. Verify a few exported samples in a photo viewer or media player: a recognizable filename alone does not establish that the file is usable.

For damaged supported pictures that appear after scanning, the application offers an AI Repair action on eligible images and can save a processed copy. That is distinct from recovering files in the first place. Do not assume the photo-repair tool can reconstruct a corrupt video or restore details that are no longer in any accessible data.

Product Interface & Workflow

Aiseesoft Data Recovery separates disk scanning, USB/SD recovery and crashed-PC rescue into different workspaces. The screenshots show where the main tools sit before any changes are made to the source drive.

Compatibility & Coverage

Aiseesoft Data Recovery supports common computer disks and removable storage, while Aiseesoft Mac Data Recovery has separate macOS requirements. The table identifies file types and devices to check before installing either version.

Features & Capabilities

Aiseesoft Data Recovery combines multiple scan modes with result filtering and selective export. Its features are most useful for deciding which discovered items are worth restoring, rather than downloading every match.

Drive scan, file listing and targeted retrieval

The results browser offers location-based navigation alongside categories for pictures, documents, audio, video and other formats. File filters are useful when a drive contains many similarly named photos or documents.

A scan can be paused or stopped, and promising files can be previewed before export. Deep Scan is available as an additional search route when the initial result set is incomplete.

Media recovery on USB, SD and camera storage

USB/SD Recovery has a dedicated interface instead of requiring removable devices to be found among internal partitions. This makes it easier to target a connected camera card, flash drive or drone microSD medium.

File-type filtering separates footage from still images and work files. When several similar recordings appear, inspect dates, size and preview where supported before exporting.

Rescue route for a nonbooting Windows computer

Crashed PC Recovery is a distinct feature of Aiseesoft Data Recovery for Windows, designed to start disk retrieval without relying on the damaged Windows installation.

It does not reinstall Windows or recreate personal files from a factory image. A separate working PC is required to make the recovery USB.

Photo repair after recovery

Aiseesoft Data Recovery adds an AI Repair action to eligible scanned photos. It opens a separate image-processing view with a result comparison before the edited picture is saved.

The photo tool is intended for supported still-image formats, including JPG/JPEG and PNG; it is not a video-repair engine.

Broad file-category coverage without account-based recovery

Beyond mainstream media, the supported categories include PDFs, presentations, spreadsheets, compressed archives and locally stored email files. Aiseesoft also lists eBook formats and certain executable packages among detectable file types.

Filtering by file category does not limit the scan to a single extension, and results may include files from different folders on the selected disk.

Important Conditions & Limitations

Aiseesoft Data Recovery cannot guarantee that deleted bytes still exist or that a scanned volume can be read safely. These conditions determine when a scan is worthwhile and when to avoid further changes to the source drive.

Overwriting is the controlling risk

Recovering a deleted file requires underlying data to remain available. New downloads, app installations, operating-system writes and camera recordings can reuse the same storage. Avoid writing to the source medium; if the missing files are very important, pause everyday use of that device before scanning.

The file list can contain incomplete items

A recovered name or thumbnail is not equivalent to a healthy document or playable video. Previews may be unavailable, partly reconstructed or misleading when metadata survives but file content is missing. Inspect exported files with the appropriate application before treating a recovery as successful.

SSD trim and failing hardware change the outlook

SSD deletion can involve controller-level cleanup that makes software retrieval impossible. A drive that clicks, disappears or cannot identify itself may have physical problems; repeated full-disk scans risk additional stress. Desktop recovery software is not a repair service for failed electronics or damaged platters.

What a factory reset changes on the source disk

A factory reset or manufacturer recovery operation may overwrite Windows partitions and user files. Once those sectors have been replaced, Aiseesoft Data Recovery cannot reconstruct the former contents merely by scanning the restored installation.

App-managed files and inaccessible databases

Mac Notes and some desktop applications store content inside databases, packages or synchronized accounts rather than independent documents. Even if Aiseesoft recovers an associated file, the application may require a valid database structure to display the missing material.

Online mail and cloud-only records

A desktop disk scan cannot reach items stored only in a remote account. For Gmail, Outlook.com and other online mailboxes, the service’s Deleted Items/Trash and retention tools determine what can be recovered.

Mac permissions and old security instructions deserve caution

Older Aiseesoft tutorials reference disabling System Integrity Protection on certain macOS releases. Changing protection settings can reduce system security; such instructions should not be assumed necessary on every supported current Mac. Verify the current app’s permissions, removable-disk access and vendor guidance for your exact OS before changing protected settings.

Bootable rescue USB preparation destroys the stick’s contents

The vendor describes formatting the chosen USB before creating a crashed-PC recovery drive. Select it carefully, copy any existing files off first, and do not confuse the rescue stick with the separate storage where successfully recovered files should be saved.

Windows and Mac activation are separate

The Aiseesoft Data Recovery license for Windows does not activate Aiseesoft Mac Data Recovery. A lifetime purchase covers the listed number of computers, not an unlimited number of installations or unrelated Aiseesoft products.

Price discounts do not measure recovery results

A 50% license discount says nothing about how much data remains recoverable. The recovery percentage presented in advertising is not a measurement of the condition of your drive.

Free Trial / Free Version

Aiseesoft Data Recovery offers a free download for Windows and Mac so users can assess disk detection and scan results before choosing paid export. Trial limits should be checked in the installed build.

What can be checked before buying

The downloadable Windows and Mac programs allow prospective buyers to inspect the available interface and scanning options. Check the installed trial’s export restrictions rather than assuming that every discovered item can be saved free of charge.

Confirm that the intended volume is detected and that recognizable candidates appear in results. Where previews are available, use them to assess file quality before choosing a paid license.

Trial-to-paid license decision

If you need only a single recovery session, compare the one-month and one-year checkout totals instead of assuming the shortest term costs least. The offer details may make the longer license better value.

For multiple family or work computers, compare the three-device lifetime scope with single-computer licenses and verify the permitted number of activations before paying.

Check coupon and renewal terms at checkout

Use the Buy Now link for the desired operating system and term. Confirm any coupon-code discount, final price, currency and renewal wording before submitting payment; do not assume an additional code can be stacked.

System Requirements

Aiseesoft Data Recovery for Windows and Aiseesoft Mac Data Recovery have different storage and processor requirements. These published minimums cover installation; enough free space for exported files is also needed.

RequirementWindows editionMac edition
Operating systemWindows 11/10/8.1/8/7/Vista/XP (SP2 or newer)macOS 10.7 or newer (vendor lists Apple M-series support)
CPU1 GHz Intel/AMD CPU or faster1 GHz 64-bit processor; Apple Silicon M-series listed

Recovery storageSeparate healthy destination with enough capacity for exported filesSeparate healthy destination with enough capacity for exported files
Crashed-PC workflowUSB device larger than 4 GB; contents erased during rescue-media creationThe documented boot-media path is aimed at crashed Windows PCs

Storage access matters beyond minimum specifications

A disk can meet basic hardware requirements yet remain unsuitable if it is not recognized, is inaccessible due to protection, or no longer contains readable sectors. Confirm the volume is visible to the program; an external card reader may be needed for camera media. Do not write recovered material back to the source.

The system requirements describe desktop scanning on Windows or macOS. Reading a phone’s removable microSD card through an adapter is not the same as accessing protected internal Android or iPhone storage.
